Storytelling Workshops for Adults

on Sat 11 and Sun 12 Feb

 

Venue:

Dr MGR-Janaki College (Theatre Block), R A Puram.

 

 

Admission for the Workshops is Rs 500 per day.  There is a morning Workshop, and an afternoon Workshop, each day. 

 

One could attend on just one day.  However, the two days of Workshops are planned as a set, and certificates would be given for attending the two-day set.

 

Tickets could be purchased here , or on the spot.

(These sessions would be occurring simultaneously, in different rooms.)

"Storytelling Workshop on Composing and Telling Personal-experience Stories".

 

Planned and led by Eric Miller, Regina Ress, Sowmya Srinivasan, Aparna Athreya, Debjani Bhaduri, and Sudha Umashankar.

 

All participants in one group. (Theatre Block).

 

This session is Part 1 of a 2-session Workshop. 

Part 2 would occur the following day at the same time.

How to Teach Language with Stories, Music, Movement, and Drawing.

 

3) Delfina Kanchana Sundar,

Storytelling for Social Activism.

 

4) Jeeva Raghunath,

Characterisation in Storytelling: Enabling Story Characters to Express Themselves Through Voice Modulation and Body Language.

 

5) Lavanya Srinivas, Subha H, Ramya A, and Subha R.

Tandem Storytelling (Telling by two or more Storytellers together).

 

6) Mohan Krishnan,

Nuances of Body Language and Role Immersion in Storytelling.

 

7) Pretigaya Haran,

Doing Storytelling Work With Children.

 

8) Regina Ress (from NYC) and Gita Jangid (from Hyderabad),

Using Storytelling, Song, and Movement to Teach English Language.

 

9) Seema Wahi Mukherjee (from Gurgaon) and Kanupriya Keyal,

Storytelling for Teaching-and-Learning, including through Making and Using Puppets.

 

10) K Shanmugasundaram (Shan),

Using Storytelling to Develop Creativity and Teach-and-learn.

 

11) Tuaratini (from Cook Islands and New Zealand),

From the Pacific Ocean Region: Moana Pacific Storytelling through Traditional Forms of Speech, Song, Movement, and Dance.

 

12) Vasugi Ram Manohar, Kavitha Thyagarajan, and Mubeen Irshad,

Storytelling to Help Children Learn.

 

There would be a maximum of 20 participants in each Workshop.

"Storytelling Workshop on Telling Grandmother Stories; and on Composing and Telling Original Creative Stories".

 

Planned and led by Eric Miller, Regina Ress, Sowmya Srinivasan, Aparna Athreya, Debjani Bhaduri, and Sudha Umashankar.

 

All participants in one group. (Theatre Block).

 

This session would be Part 2 of a 2-session Workshop.  Part 1 would have occured the previous day at the same time. 

 

People could attend Part 2 without having attended Part 1, but Parts 1 and 2 are being planned as a unified set, so attending both is recommended.

This would be a Specialised Workshop, titled, "Step into the Storyteller's Shoes".  It would concern different ways people tell stories in different lands, and different versions of the same story.  Activities would include retelling a story in different ways.
