8-month Course in Story and Storytelling
June 2027 to Jan 2028. Via Zoom.
Led by Dr Eric Miller.
Featuring,
A Drama-based Approach to Storytelling,
encouraging, at crucial moments in the story,
dialogue (the acting-out of
characters),
That is: speech BY characters rather than
speech (by a narrator) ABOUT characters.
Participants would also be coached to tell
in the Candid Storytelling style.
Course Schedule –
Participants would meet, and would
tell the following
stories on these Saturdays and
Sundays, at 6pm-8pm
India time:
1) June 12th, 13th 2027___ A
Remarkable Incident.
2) July 10th, 11th ___ Animal
Fables.
3) August 14th, 15th ___ Life Stories.
4) Sept 11th, 12th ___ Fairytales.
5) Oct 9th, 10th ___ Epics or History.
6) Nov 13th, 14th ___ Stories created by an
individual other than oneself.
7) Dec 11th, 12th ___ Stories created by oneself.
8) Jan 8th, 9th 2028___ One's
choice of story.
Course topics include:
1) Storytelling (thinking about, finding, creating,
telling, and discussing stories).
2) Storytelling for Teaching and Learning.

Course fee: Rs 30,000.
This could be given in two
instalments of Rs 15,000 each:
1) Before Saturday 13th June.
2) Before Saturday 10th Oct.

Graduates of the Course receive a "Certificate of Training".

Certification as a "Professional Storyteller".
Included in the "Story and
Storytelling" Course is a training
process that involves three
one-on-one Zoom meetings
with Dr Eric, upon completion of
which participants earn
Certification as a "Professional Storyteller".
This process could occur during the
scheduled sessions of
the Course (the last one of which
occurs on a Sunday in
January), or after the Course
completes.
The duration of each of the three meetings
is 45-60 minutes.
Usually there are one or two weeks
between each of the
three meetings.
The process consists of,
Zoom Meeting #1 –
The Trainee tells four stories to
Dr Eric, who gives feedback.
The stories could be:
1) An Animal Fable – some are at

2) A Fairytale – some are at

4) A story of any kind.
Please let at least two of these
stories be stories that
you did not tell during the course.
After telling these stories to Dr
Eric, the Trainee tells
them to a group of people in a chosen
age-group (at
least three people), and leads a
discussion with the
listeners about the stories and the
ways they were told.
The Trainee writes and sends to Dr
Eric a page of notes
about the experience of doing the
above with a group of
listeners.
Zoom Meeting #2 –
The Trainee discusses with Dr Eric
a storytelling-related
lesson/class/workshop the Trainee
would conduct with
the group of people that the
Trainee told the four stories to.
The Trainee writes and sends to Dr
Eric description and
outline of the lesson.
The Trainee conducts the lesson.
Zoom Meeting #3 –
The Trainee and Dr Eric discuss the
Trainee's experience of
conducting the lesson.
