We are now in 2022 AD ("Anno Domini", "In the
Year of Our Lord") --
or, as I like to call it, 61 AS.
"AS" means "After Space".
Proposal: Historical time could be dated from the moment
a human first escaped the pull of the earth's gravity.
That is, time could be dated with reference to
"Before Space" was reached, and "After
Space"
was reached.
A human first entered outer space 61 years ago, in 1961.
Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin (1934 - 1968) was a Soviet pilot
and cosmonaut who became the first human to journey into
outer space. Traveling in
the Vostok 1 capsule, Gagarin
completed one orbit of Earth on 12 April 1961.

Since space was first reached in 1961, that would be
the Year 0 (zero) in Space time. 1962 was year 1 AS
(After Space was reached).
2022 is year 61 AS.
