Monkey Queen meets Indian Monkey King" Performance description: Rubena Sinha weaves poetic
movements from her South Indian dance roots to portray the legendary Monkey
King from India. This Monkey King meets
Diana Tso’s sassy Monkey Queen, born in Canada and journeying to the east in
search of warrior wisdom to heal a troubled world and perhaps also to find a
little romance. Back to the CSF 2019 Schedule *** Workshop title: "Storytelling as a
Teaching and Educational Tool". Workshop description: This Workshop would explore
ways teachers and students could gather stories and use them in educational
processes. This would be a fun,
interactive workshop drawing upon peoples natural skills. The session would involve a
mixture of discussion, demonstration, and participation. One topic that would be
discussed is the current educational practices in Scotland, including the
"Curriculum for Excellence." Participants are requested
to bring a treasured object, and notebook and pen. Back to the CSF 2019 Schedule *** Workshop title: "Moving Stories: Storytelling and Movement". Workshop description: This
would be a Workshop on using movement in storytelling, which is something I
do a lot in my own practice, and have taught to others for a good number of
years. In the Workshop, I use various
aspects of Indian dance, and make postures, gestures, movements of numerous
parts of the body, facial expressions, and mudras (designs made by one's
hands and fingers) parts of the storytelling process. Back to the CSF 2019 Schedule *** Workshop title:
Storytelling and Theatre". Diana Tso is a theatre performer, director, and playwright. This workshop explores creative and fun
ways to access the imagination for the sake of individual and collective
story composition and performance.
Participants would retell old stories as well as explore pathways of
creating new stories. Participants
would also experience words through movement and sounds, to enrich the art of
