Stories for counseling and therapy Date: Jan
2020 From:
Shyamala Krishnamurthi Stories
about the following could be used: Praise
and rewards. Failures and
mistakes. Challenges
and solutions. Dilemmas
and resolutions. Stories
of impact. Inspirational
stories of survivors. A life
story in which you are the hero. Telling
One’s Story (Putting together a narrative to
describe yourself from the problem's point of view). Consider
how your life might be in a week, a month, a year, or a few years from
now. Both with this problem continuing
and in a timeline where you embrace a new direction. Regards, Shyamala *** 2 Subject:
CSF 2020 Workshop on "Storytelling for Counselling and
Coaching"__note Date: Jan
2020 From:
Priya Balasubramaniam Dear All, We could
choose themes like turning points, mistakes, change, etc, and ask the
participants to volunteer and tell personal stories from their own lives on
that theme or topic. This might show them how real-life experiences as story
could be therapeutic and inspiring. In the
process of telling their real-life stories, participants might have
experiences of catharsis (expression and release of emotions). As a result,
they gain understandings of ways catharsis could be part of healing
processes. When a
participant tells his/her Life Story (condensed to 10 minutes, perhaps) this
helps the participant to organise his/her thoughts and feelings; and helps
the counselor or coach to get an overall understanding about the client. Thanks
and regards, Priya Balasubramanian This
